Radiology: With
in-house radiology (x-ray) equipment, we are able to perform
and interpret
radiographs within an hour.
Ultrasound: Ultrasound
can be an important tool to help us diagnose your pet’s
illness. It is a non-invasive method to give us a 3-D picture of internal organs
which can help us identify abnormal organ structures.
Echocardiogram: An ECHO gives us a three-dimensional
picture of the heart and
allows us to evaluate the degree of heart disease.
Tonometry: We
use a Tonopen, a small, gentle instrument, to accurately check eye pressures.
This tool allows us to diagnose and monitor
Glaucoma, one of the
leading causes of blindness in dogs.
General Surgery and Anesthesia: If an invasive procedure
is needed, it will be handled by a skilled, experienced team using the best
equipment and instrumentation.
We use a combination of intravenous and inhalent anesthetics that is tailored
to your pet’s needs to ensure safety and comfort.
FAQ for surgery patients
• What do I need to do at home the day before and day of surgery?
- No food after midnight the day before surgery. Pets may have water up until
7 am the day of surgery.
• What time do I need to drop off my pet?
- Please be here by 8:30 am. A technician or your doctor will meet with you to
discuss
the procedure further or answer any questions.
• When can my pet go home?
- Time of discharge will vary with both the procedure and the patient. Most pets
will need to spend at least one night in the hospital.
• Is it absolutely necessary to do the pre-operative blood work?
- Yes. Running bloodwork prior to anesthesia will alert your doctor to potential
anesthetic complications (liver, kidney disease, dehydration) and allow him/her
to make adjustments to anesthetic protocols. Undergoing anesthesia without bloodwork
puts your pet at greater risk of complications or even anesthetic death.
Oncology (cancer treatment): We are experienced in
administering and monitoring
chemotherapy should your pet be diagnosed with cancer.
